Pregnancy and heat aren't the best of companions, but maintaining balanced nutrition is even more crucial when it's hot to prevent dehydration and nutrient depletion.

To help you stay nourished and comfortable, we turned to Emily Stone Rydbom, CNC, BCHN, CNP.  Emily is a certified nutrition consultant and board-certified holistic nutritionist renowned for her work with GrowBaby Health and the GrowBaby Life Project. She is collaborating with Needed to develop large-scale nutrition care models tailored for fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum health, called nutritional care, ensuring women receive optimal nutritional support based on their individual needs.

Here, she is sharing some of her favorite accessible recipes to beat the heat and stay hydrated. 

Pregnancy Digestive Smoothie 

½ cup coconut milk from a can

1 cup of coconut water

2 tsp of apple cider vinegar

½-1 cup pineapple (frozen)

½ cup papaya (frozen)

½ cup mango (frozen)

½ lime squeezed

½ cup of filtered water

1 cup of ginger tea – pre-steeped & cooled

Blend & sprinkle the top with unsweetened shaved coconut!

Pregnancy Antioxidant Skin Support Sun tea 

In large mason jar (32 oz) full of water 

Add:4 decaf green tea bags

4 dandelion root tea bags

Let sit in sun or in direct sunlight inside for 1 hour & remove tea bags

In the bottom of a large glass, muddle fresh mint leaves

Squeeze fresh slice of lemon

1 Needed lemon hydration stick

Add ice & pour antioxidant skin support tea

Mix & enjoy!

Pomegranate + Lime Immune Refresher 

Lime spindrift, 1 can

Pomegranate juice, ¼ cup

Needed Immune Support, 1 scoop

Add ½ can or more of Lime spindrift to a glass with ice

Add ¼ cup of pomegranate juice

Add 1 scoop Needed immune support

Mix and enjoy!
